The West Berkshire Area of Thames Valley Police has worked in conjunction with partner agencies to launch an intensive five week operation in Mortimer.
Operation Flammable has been set up to increase community engagement, allowing residents to get more actively involved in policing the local area. Response Officers will be out and about encouraging people to participate in crime reduction measures, informing them of how to report crime and intelligence to the police.
A dedicated team has been deployed to support the neighbourhood team in Mortimer. The aim is to track offenders and secure convictions, through operations, execution of warrants, intelligence gathering and tackling anti-social behaviour.
Insp Clare Knibbs said: “We are holding several ‘have you say meetings’ and conducting door to door survey’s to assess the feelings of the community around crime and anti-social behaviour. We are planning to utilise this information to address any issues which the residents and people that work in Mortimer experience.
“We are actively posting on social media and I would urge residents to look us up to read about the work we are doing in the area. There have already been some fantastic results from our door to door knocks, from which we have gained intelligence and made some key arrests.
"The team will be out and out in fluorescent jackets; knocking on doors to speak to residents. Please feel free to approach your neighbourhood team and discuss any matters that affect your neighbourhood."Mortimer, Reading, UNITED KINGDOM. June 21 2013.
